My {Growing} List of Essential Oil Uses over the Last Year!

  • Diffuser & Natural Pure-Fume Blends: I love experimenting with scented blends for both pure-fumes, bath salts & diffuser blends that create & support the aromas, moods, rest or feelings you’re seeking in that moment.   • Daily Spa-like Steam Shower: I add a drop of Eucalyptus to the corner of my shower every day, which creates a Eucalyptus steam that clears your nose, lungs & breathing passages and creates an incredibly energizing way to start your day! You can do this with any oil you feel drawn to that day (any Citrus or Peppermint oil is also great for increased energy in the morning). Your body knows what healing properties it needs best, follow your sniffer!

  • Bulletproofing my Delicious Coffee: by using coconut oil, MCT / Brain Octane oil & a drop of Cinnamon Bark. Yum!!

  • Toxin-free deodorant: Immediately after my diagnosis, the first thing I did was get rid of my "Old Spice Fiji scented" anti-perspirant (men's was the only kind that worked for me!), and experimented with natural, toxin-free deodorant options, like dōTERRA’s all natural deodorant with a 1-2 drops of Eucalyptus, Lavender, Bergamot (which promotes self-acceptance) or Clary Sage (fantastic for supporting balanced hormones, especially during that time of the month)!

  • Toxin-Free Dryer Balls: My son has incredibly sensitive skin, especially to chemicals like sunscreen & chlorine. No more chemical-ridden dryer sheets for us! Now we take 2-3 wool dryer balls, add 1-2 drops of Lavender, Serenity or Whisper blend to each them and throw them into the dryer during the last 10 mins of the dryer cycle. Your sheets & clothes will smell AMAZING … and no more chemicals rubbing up on your skin! 

  • Rejuvenating Wellness Baths: One of my regular self-care rituals is taking 1-2 epsom salt baths per week, with the addition of calming, healing, energizing or rejuvenating essential oils to your epsom salts.

    • Some other benefits of Epsom salts are: 

      • Eliminates & flushes out toxins & heavy metals (especially after a good sweat sesh)
        • Boosts Magnesium levels

        • Reduces Stress

        • Relieves constipation

        • Reduces pain & inflammation in your body

        • Improves blood sugar levels

  • Ingestible Oils with Health Benefits: What I love about DōTERRA oils is that many of the essential oils are ingestible (unlike the oils from Saje, which are ONLY for diffusing) So I take 1-2 drops of lemon, lime or grapefruit essential oils in my warm water or cold water daily, that promotes cleansing with a delicious taste. 

    • WARNING: Not all essential oils are created equal & safe to ingest. DōTERRA has many safely ingestible oils for wellness purposes, but please ensure you do your research on which ones are ingestible, which ones are not -  especially with other brands - before adding them to any food or drinks.

  • Sadness / Feeling Low Energy: Rubbing some Bergamot on your hands or wrists then inhale first thing in the morning is a fantastic way to increase your vibration & start your day with positivity. Bergamot is the most delicate of citrus plants, and is unique among citrus oils in that its aroma works to uplift even while it calms. It has also been reputed to relieve sad and anxious feelings, eliminate irritability, promote feelings of self-worth and stimulate hormonal secretions that may help balance metabolism and lower blood pressure.

  • Bathroom Spray: in a small reusable spray bottle I mixed water with: Melaleuca (Tea Tree), lemon, lime - 5x drops of oil each; a perfect toxin-free solution for nasty bathroom odors!

  • Kitchen Counter Spray Cleaner: I have gone from Lysol Lemon Scent to creating my own cleaning spray with 10 drops of lime, 10 drops of lemon, 10 drops of On Guard + 1 part vinegar, 4 parts water. Super cleansing, anti-bacterial plus it smells natural, fresh & non-toxic amazing! 

  • Stinky lunch kits, bags or coolers: I spray my son’s lunch kit down with my DIY lemon-y kitchen spray (above) then place a drop of lemon or lime on a paper towel and wipe the oil all over the inside of the lunch bag or leave the paper towel with the drop on it inside the lunch kit overnight, at least once a week. It’s cleansing, leaves a yummy, fresh scent & chases away the stale food smell. 

  • Tummy/Digestion issues: mixing 1 drop of DōTERRA Peppermint in warm or cold water then drinking, will soothe any tummy issues. You can also use Peppermint or DigestZen blend topically by mixing 1-2 drops in a carrier oil (like Fractionated Coconut Oil) and rub it directly on your tummy. DigestZen also comes in a rollerball ready go bring with you with ease of application for the days you’re out with friends eating not-so-healthy foods!

  • Cold / Flu Prevention: feeling a cold coming on? Place 1 drop of Oregano oil or On Guard into an empty veggie capsule and swallow with water if you’re like me and don’t like the taste of Oregano. Or else 1 drop into a glass of water directly and drink it down (but don’t tell me I didn’t warn you about the strong after taste!)
